Experience
TriVirum, Inc.
Project Manager and Technical Lead (Contractor)
September 2020 - October 2024
Sacramento, CA
TriVirum develops a low-cost disposable screening device for early detection of atrial fibrillation. The device, prescribed to patients in at-risk populations, is sent to the patient in the mail and worn for up to 15 days. It continuously monitors for potential arrhythmias and captures ECG around these detected events. The device is then returned in a pre-paid envelope to a processing center where the device is opened, data extracted and uploaded to TriVirum's cloud software platform for analysis and distribution.
I was responsible for leading an offshore software development team for the cloud platform. Amazon Web Services (AWS) platform technologies are heavily utilized, including AWS Lambda, API Gateway, Cognito, RDS, Aurora, S3, Amplify, CloudWatch, CodeBuild, CodePipeline and CloudFormation. Front end applications utilize TypeScript, React and Redux.
Murata Vios, Inc.
Interoperability Consultant
August 2020 - December 2021
Minneapolis, MN
Vios provides a low-cost patient-worn vital signs monitor for use in acute-care settings. The system consists of a patient-worn chest sensor with ECG leads and SpO2 sensor, an Android tablet that communicates with the device using Bluetooth LE, and an on-premise server for data capture and integration with hospital information systems.
My responsibilities included installing and conIguring the system and coordinating with customers to connect to the patient admissions and electronic health record systems. I was also responsible for creating customer-facing technical documentation regarding the interoperability capabilities of the system.
Sotera Digital Health, Inc.
Software Development Contractor
January 2018 - July 2020
San Diego, CA
After leaving Sotera as a full-time employee, I was asked to put together a team to enhance a remote alarming software solution, as well as develop a system management platform. The remote alarming software was developed for both iOS and Android platforms and also consisted of a server component. All software was developed utilizing offshore resources.
Sotera Digital Health, Inc.
Vice President, Systems Software and Interoperability
March 2009 - November 2017
San Diego, CA
Sotera has developed a patient-worn wireless continuous vital signs monitor for use in acute-care environments. It continuously measures heart rate, pulse rate, respiration rate, SpO2 and body temperature. Additionally, it non-invasively measures beat-by-beat blood pressure without a cuff, provides full diagnostic ECG, life-threatening arrhythmia and fall detection. All data is continuously transmitted over the facility's wireless network and captured in full fidelity on an on-premise server. All data is continuously displayed on remote monitoring viewers that are typically installed at nursing stations. The server software provides facilities for integration with the facility's patient admissions, electronic health record and alarming systems.
My tenure began as a Senior Software Developer, and ultimately I was responsible for building, deploying and supporting the server software, remote viewer software, and remote alarming software. I was also responsible for interoperability with customers' patient admissions, electronic health record and remote alarming software.
Earlier Career

Prior to 2009 I held various software development roles both as a full-time employee and as a contractor, including with two other medical device startup companies. I am happy to provide further details upon request.
Personal Project
backtestresults.com
Owner
January 2025 - Present
Medellín, CO
For several years I have been developing, testing and running automated trading strategies for US equities, futures and derivatives. I am currently in the process of launching backtestresults.com, a portal where potential investors can review the performance of various backtested trading strategies, and subscribe to receive trading alerts for select strategies. These alerts are delivered via registered webhooks, enabling the trade to be made in the subscribers account at the same time.
I have single-handedly built the platform that enables me to easily define trading strategies, perform backtests on them, including walk-forward validation and optimization. The platform enables the deployment of the same strategy definition for real-time trading. The system is also capable of publishing signals to registered webhooks for copy-trading. The code base includes functionality for everything from technical indicators, processing historical financial data, backtesting, walk-forward optimization, publishing results, connecting to brokers, processing real-time streaming data, executing trades, processing trade executions, publishing signals and more.

I have worked with a wide range of technologies throughout my career, giving me the versatility to choose the right tool for the job. My most recent experience has been with Java, Spring Boot, JavaScript, React, REST APIs, and relational databases, with significant experience deploying and managing solutions in AWS. I am very comfortable with the command line and proficient with Git for version control. In addition, I have a deep understanding of healthcare interoperability standards, including HL7, FHIR, and SMART on FHIR. Through my personal project, backtestresults.com, I have also gained valuable experience in financial markets, performance reporting, and brokerage APIs.
